I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?

Chapter 387: Soul!

Chapter 387: Soul!

Loren and Cook P. Jones stood on the overlook halfway up the mountain, simply watching Seena’s lone retreating figure...

The night wind blew at just the opportune moment.

The third member of this temporary criminal team had also departed.

“Mr. Cook, what about you? Any plans for the future?”

After Seena’s figure disappeared around a corner, Loren asked the man beside him in an uneventful tone.

“Me? For now, I plan to stay in the City of Canbera and run a trading company with my goblin friend for a while.”

“After that, maybe I’ll travel through the Star Realm as well...”

“By the way, Mr. Loren!”

“Once I reach Demigod, could I invite you to come with me to the Abyss plane?”

Loren was slightly taken aback. He turned his head to look at Cook P. Jones beside him.“You... what do you want to go there for?”

When Cook P. Jones saw that Loren hadn’t refused immediately, a brilliant glimmer burst deep in his eyes!

“To... bring back two souls that fell into the Abyss...”

Cook P. Jones’s tone was calm and low.

Hearing this, Loren looked at him very seriously and asked in a low voice:

“The souls of your two animal partners fell into the Abyss?”

Cook P. Jones nodded silently.

“You want to... revive them?” Loren asked thoughtfully.

Cook P. Jones nodded again without any hesitation.

“Are you... sure their souls fell into the Abyss?”

“And not gone to some god’s Divine Kingdom, or returned to the boundless chaotic Soul Sea?” Loren inquired very rigorously.

Upon hearing Loren’s question, Cook P. Jones let out a faint sigh and spoke with helplessness:

“That lord guarding the Ancient Ruin, in order to have me help choose suitable people to enter the ruin, once used the Authority of Omniscience to tell me some things...”

“Their two souls didn’t go to the Soul Sea...”

“Having no faith, they also didn’t go to any deity’s Divine Kingdom...”

“That arrogant cat committed the sin of pride...”

“And the gentle-natured owl committed the sin of sloth...”

“Plus, when they died, they were in quite a bit of pain, so the endless Abyss unexpectedly captured their souls...”

After listening to Cook P. Jones’s explanation, Loren unconsciously lowered his head into contemplation.

A question suddenly arose in his heart:

Could Mr. Floor Tile, as the temporary master of the ruin, also utilize a small portion of the Authority of Omniscience?

Thinking this, Loren spoke a sentence to Raven in his mind:

“Raven, ask Mr. Slab for me: is the information Mr. Cook obtained accurate?”

Ten seconds later.

Raven’s voice echoed in his mind.

“The information is accurate, Master!”

“That Mr. Floor Tile, in order to turn Mr. Cook into a trustworthy ally, once used Mr. Slab’s power to inquire about where his animal partners’ souls were.”

Hearing Raven’s relayed answer, Loren nodded inwardly.

So that’s how it is...

Then, Loren stopped pretending to be deep in thought.

He raised his head, looking at Cook P. Jones, who was staring at him with expectant eyes, and spoke softly:

“Mr. Cook, when that time comes, asking me to make a move might cost quite a bit...”

Upon hearing this, a sincere smile spread across Cook P. Jones’s face.

“No problem, as long as there’s a price...”

Night fell.

On the overlook halfway up the mountain, the night wind howled incessantly, carrying a unique salty, humid sea scent.

The aura around Cook P. Jones grew powerful once again...

“I should be able to save up enough.”

With the return of his power, Cook P. Jones smiled and winked at Loren.

“After all, having walked the path of transcendence for so long, I’m no small fry either...”

Seeing his confident demeanor, Loren, in order to dampen his enthusiasm, spread his hands considerately and gave a token gesture of “you’re right.”

“Then, I look forward to that day.” Loren’s tone was calm.

Seeing Loren agree to this, Cook P. Jones’s face broke into a huge smile.

And he even chuckled to himself for a while.

But after laughing for a bit.

The delighted Cook P. Jones, as if possessed, suddenly recalled a rumor about Loren.

Gradually, his smile stiffened.

“Loren, I just remembered!”

“In the Interstellar Hunter Association, there’s a rumor that none of your clients have survived...”

“That raven symbolizing death and disaster is perched on your shoulder...”

“The white iris on your chest also symbolizes a funeral flower for sending off others...”

“This should be... a rumor, right?”

“It really... can’t be that unlucky, can it...”

Upon hearing this!

Loren’s face instantly darkened!

Soon!

After composing himself, he looked at Cook P. Jones with a beaming smile and said seriously:

“Of course it’s a rumor.”

“Actually, my clients are all very satisfied with my service. It’s a hundred percent success rate with zero negative reviews...”

Just as Loren finished explaining, Cook P. Jones’s smile grew even stiffer.

After taking a deep breath, he hesitated and probed:

“Well, if all the clients died, that would be... zero negative reviews, wouldn’t it?”

Hearing such an offensive remark!

Loren smiled brightly at Cook P. Jones, showing a rather “friendly” grin, and slowly said, word by word:

“Within... two... seconds!”

“It’s better if you disappear from my sight...”

“Don’t you think, Mr. Cook?”

As the words fell!

Cook P. Jones didn’t hesitate at all. He turned and ran!

He dashed toward the nearby corner...

0.5 seconds later!

Cook P. Jones, fully unleashing his speed, disappeared around the street corner!

From the howling night wind came a breathless voice:

“Mr. Loren, see you next time!!!”

Standing alone on the overlook, Loren watched the corner where the other had vanished. The corners of his mouth turned down, and he muttered indignantly:

“This is slander!”

“This is libel!!”

“This is an attack on my reputation!!!”

“Clearly, there were some clients who survived...”

The sound of Raven’s laughter in his mind once again... grew somewhat grating.

Already accustomed to Raven’s mockery, Loren ignored the laughter in his head. With a dark face, he activated his sixth ability—Crossroads of Fate.

Except this time, he applied the ability to himself...

Alone at last, he could personally go and ask Mr. Slab some questions.

“Stop laughing, Stupid Bird!”

“Stay alert!”
