Chapter 1363 - 527: Execute the Order
Empty! In the fog, a sharp metallic booming rang out. The sixty power cars of the Doomsday Train parked on the wilderness tracks roared to life, iron wheels screeching as they turned. The Horizon Gate locked onto the rails and spat blue sparks, thousands of couplings crackling with the brittle snap of metal joints. This slumbering mechanical dragon began to crawl forward under the lash of electricity.
Inside the various cars that were like miniature societies, people stared out at the fog, their faces reflecting all the different states of human life.
Up in the sky, the suspended Silent City was likewise moving through the fog. All flight attitudes and the array of the Air Fleet were controlled entirely through dense signal relays. Whether survivors or soldiers of the Iron Guard Brigade, everyone looking out saw only blacked‑out nothingness.
It was almost the same as moving forward in a submarine.
In the Intelligent Brain core of Silent City, Mochizuki Masashi was rapidly deconstructing the information from the Black Gear. Behind him, Qian Suxun leaned against the wall with a mobile terminal in hand, not even raising his head as he said,
"So by that logic, the meaning of Sword Holder has nothing to do with the South Heavenly Gate anymore, right?"
"Xun, conspiracy theories are a flaw of human nature. Thinking that way will easily trap you in stance prejudice." Mochizuki Masashi smiled. "I’ve told you many times, you need to look at things with an objective and dialectical eye. The wisdom of the great men of the East is a precious treasure."
"Fine."
Qian Suxun shrugged. "Then what can we change, Shinji?"
"We can’t. But someone can."
"Lin?"
"Half correct."
"Riddles are so boring."
"Be patient, Xun. It’s not like we have much time left anyway."
...
Clank, clank.
The train crawled forward. In car no. 12 of the Infinity, the air was quiet.
Lin Xian held Chu Yan in his arms. He reached out, caught that tear, and looked at her. "I believe you."
"I don’t want you to believe me." Chu Yan said calmly, "I want you to use me."
Lin Xian’s brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
Chu Yan’s eyes were solemn as she looked at him, resolute. "My body has been modified. My consciousness has been separated. My senses resonate with yours. Even though you say you believe me, I know it’s meaningless, because I myself don’t know exactly what I know and what I don’t. This will that I can’t control makes me suffer."
"Only when my mind merged with yours in Dawn City did I find a complete form of emotion and memory. And from that moment, I began to doubt myself."
She reached out and cupped Lin Xian’s face. "I know what you’re doubting. But I don’t want you judging with emotional attachment. I want you to use absolute reason."
"Absolute reason?"
"Yes."
"I don’t get it."
Chu Yan slipped out of Lin Xian’s arms, her expression turning cold as she backed up to the large bed and sat down. Her long, slender legs slowly parted, and then she simply looked at Lin Xian in silence.
"Hey!"
Lin Xian’s brows knitted tight. "Is this really what we’re supposed to be doing right now?"
"Remember what we saw inside the Civilization Preview Ball of the Tower People? Why did our senses resonate?" Chu Yan said.
"What, am I supposed to Devour you or something?" Lin Xian looked baffled.
"No. We keep our sensory resonance in this state, then use a spiritual power link. Through my perspective you’ll see a lot of things—maybe even some answers I don’t know myself. And even if there aren’t, we can still confirm one thing."
"What thing?"
"That I haven’t lied. That we’re still comrades." Chu Yan said firmly.
Lin Xian froze for a moment. The scene right now was grotesque and uncanny. He thought of those ’Angels’ Devouring each other to exchange information—once you eat the other, that kind of communication can’t be faked or deceived.
And Chu Yan’s whole body was laid bare, a female form where machine and flesh meshed perfectly, unleashing an irresistible primal impact.
It wasn’t that Lin Xian didn’t trust Chu Yan. As she had said, Chu Yan’s Spiritual Power Ability was like a mother test field. The Foundation had done something to her that even she herself didn’t understand, to the point she couldn’t trust herself.
Precisely because of that, she had cut herself entirely out of Phoenix Society operations, afraid she would be turned into some kind of tool to be used to harm the Human Camp.
Yet she was also the only one who knew and understood Lin Xian’s secrets. In a sense, calling her his soul‑mate wasn’t an exaggeration.
Under these circumstances, Lin Xian had to trust her. Only by starting from her, from the bizarre link between the two of them, might he unravel the fog around his Mechanical superpower and the Foundation.
"What are you waiting for?"
Chu Yan looked at him with a calm face. "After everything we’ve been through, do you still think physical desire matters that much?"
"I’m human. Of course it matters."
Lin Xian gritted his teeth, stripped off his clothes, and walked straight over to stand before Chu Yan, looking down at her. "It matters anytime. And the same goes for you—you’re not a robot."
A flicker of panic flashed in Chu Yan’s eyes, but her resolve didn’t waver.
"I only see you as a comrade and partner on the same side. You know that. The feelings I had for you were already Devoured inside the Civilization Preview Ball... mmph...!"
Lin Xian wrapped an arm around her waist. With a serious, probing aura, he thrust forward hard and entered her in one motion.
"Is that so? Then what are you panicking about?" Lin Xian asked in a hard tone.
Chu Yan’s fingers trembled where they clutched the sheets. She raised her head, meeting Lin Xian’s gaze without flinching. "Cut the crap. Start asking me questions."
Her eyes flickered with white light as her spiritual power began to merge with Lin Xian’s.
But as Lin Xian’s hips began to move, each impact sent a powerful physical stimulus traveling along that spiritual power, feeding back into them both. It felt as if every pore on their bodies was opening to breathe.
